I have a 24x24 attached garage and i would like to use the attic area for storage.

When i bought the 3 4 ply wood and really to a look i had to take pause. If you have traditional site built roof framing your storage capacity depends on the design of the framing. Is it possible to strengthen the trusses or perhaps run a steel beam or two undern read more. The problem is the trusses are probably the minimum in construction code which leaves little to add storage.

On top of the 2x4s is metal roofing. I have an attic above my two car garage that i have been using as a storage area. If the distance was shorter i would have just run 2x6 s and not touched the trusses. Originally i just put loose boards down over the horizontal 2x4 base of the trusses.
